This is the night of Harper’s
audition at the Atlanta Performing Art Centre. She will be contesting with 14
others instrumentalist like her, in the end one person will be chosen by the
judges for a scholarship.
The Simmons arrived at the
venue with their Grand pa &Ma (Artie & Diane), they sat next to the Ivan’s
family (one of the kids at school who bully Turner, a Simmons). The Haloran
(Ivan’s family scared the Simmons (Artie, Grandpa and Turner, son) with a
dreadful bully look at them.
They were not the only ones
scared as Diance, Grandma scared the moderator, Dr. Schveer (Harper’s music
teacher) with a “remember me, my threat” look while she was opening the
audition program.
Alice and Harper, (mother and daughter) were
at the backstage, Alice watch as her daughter practiced with an unhappy and frustrated
look on her. This was the re-bind time for
them, Alice told her daughter to hang on, and she had something to say to her:
Alice: Remember when you
were 5 years old; we took you to that musical school for the first time. And all
the other kids were just banging on things.
And one kid tried to play
another kid, and from that very first day, you played and not just play, you
had this look of such fulfilment on your face. Then I said to your dad,
whatever it takes, whatever we have to do, I always want to see that fulfilment
look on your face. Right now I am not seeing it, so honey do you not want to
switch schools again?
Harper: she responded
shaking her head, meaning no.
Alice: okay, what do you
say we ditch this audition?
Harper: Really?
Alice: Yeah
Harper ran into her mom’s
arms and apologise for previously say she hate her. They both cried and ended
it up with Harper saying “I love you” to her mom, also willing to have no other
person to be her mom than Alice.
It was announced that
Harper would not be performing and a 10 min break will be observed instead of
her performing.
The family (Simmons)
re-united and Alice explains to them why Harper would not be performing that
night and it was fine with them. But while the family were together, happy
again, Turner was now on the stage using Harpers 10 min break to break free
himself.
Turner is a very shy boy;
it was that bad he has a therapist. Grandpa, Artie shared a piece of how he
knew who he was supposed to be, he showed Turner a video of a very old baseball
match. Turner while on the stage went to the mic and repeated the broadcast of
the match off hand, finally getting off his shy behaviour. Everyone was
impressed at the commentary; even the judges gave rounds of applause to him.
Turner ran into Alice arms
and Alice asked who had taught him, he said Grandpa, And Alice finally truly happy/satisfied
somehow with her father.
The family became united,
as they loved and understood one another.
